My research addresses the connection of cellobiose dehydrogenase to oxidative cellulose degradation as well as the application of CDH in various biocatalytic processes. Thereby, I am focusing on finding new enzymes based on phylogenetic analysis, expression of selected genes in different expression systems, characterization of the in vivo role and investigation of possible applications. A particular interest is the oxygen reactivity of CDH which I am studying by quantum mechanics and molecular dynamics and the application of engineered CDH with improved oxygen reactivity in biosynthesis, cascade reactions and food technology.
