We identify and quantitate carbohydrates by different high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) and capillary electrophoresis (CE) methods. Amino acid composition, trace elements and organic acids in fermentation media, reaction solutions, etc. are also determined by ion chromatography.

The molecular mass and isoelectic point (pI) of proteins is determined with various electrophoretic methods such as SDS-PAGE, native PAGE, isoelectric focusing, chromatofocussing in combination with various staining-techniques or spectrophotometric detectors.
